Eternity

He who bends to himself a joy

Does the winged life destroy;

But he who kisses the joy as it flies

Lives in eternity’s sunrise.

William Blake

One Response to “Eternity”

    Since it’s posted that ‘Courses’ is related, perhaps it’s good to relate here that Lew said the last two lines in “Theology”–“Guard the Mysteries!/Constantly reveal them!”–crystallized everything he learned from Blake. (And a quibble: Blake’s notebook originally said:: “He who binds”–not “bends,” misinterpreted by Yeats & others, which kept this error in the collections & anthologies for over half a century.)
